I play it very safe at the start and through T1. I see what's going on around me for the first lap then it's balls to the wall and if I'm in the FBM I always cook the tyres after 5 laps of pushing really hard.

Remember, we drive on left over here and you may need to sell a couple of vital organs to pay for fuel.

I'm sort of near Leeds but you wouldn't want a lift in my car, the passenger side window has come off the runner so no window down.

Quote from gezmoor :Sounds like the usual excuse to me. I'm betting the person that said that will behave in exactly the same way on tarmac. Far too many people with this attitude in LFS unfortunately. They seem to think that being fast gives them a god given right to pass you and win. They're usually the ones that say "its just a game" too. I sometimes wonder if any of these people have ever watched racing on TV let alone actually ever driven a car.

Oh and yes, there is a lot more to racing than just driving fast. Look at how many guys in F1, (and other motorsports), are capable of setting fast times in qualifying. Then when it comes to the race and being conistant etc they drop right down the field.

Edited to add - The sport their talking about is stock car racing NOT rally. The only motorsport where contact is allowed is stock car racing. All other forms of motorsport are strictly non contact. Although of course the occasional mild bump does occur but it's not condoned in any way.

Totally agree with that, I've been taken out during qualifying by quicker drivers and then blamed because I didn't move out of the way mid- turn even though I was on qualifying lap myself.

Since you were sort of confirmed from the beginning I can't really purchase you a beer.

Come on, join in. I went and bought a sat nav especially so I know where the hell I'm going for this.

Quote from Mackie The Staggie :In hindsight that might have only hurt my pride, rather than my leg.

But where's the fun in that I ask

Too right, the amount of times I've been hit by huge tackles and then got up for some more during a game of rugby would take quite a while to count
Though I have occasionally fallen straight over again after getting up because they got me better then I thought.

Quote from tristancliffe :In what car? Under what conditions? Braking for the first corner isn't a burnout.

No, I haven't played Forza. Not only am I too poor to afford a 'modern' console, I probably wouldn't bother using it anyway. I'm sure Forza is great fun, and possibly the most realistic of the console driving games, but it doesn't float my boat in the slightest.

Forza isn't that realistic, using a wheel feels unresponsive and the cars are far too well behaved. It is fun though.

Quote from SamH :Clarkson's not really very good off the cuff, though. Best with a rehearsed script.

Totally agree, expect a lot of foul language of Clarkson gets the job.

Quote from Xaid0n :Hmm, just heard on BBC News, showing a newspaper of Richard Hammond saying he could be the 'new' face of F1, could that mean Brundle is out?

Hammond isn't really an F1 fan, he has respect for the skill of the drivers but thats about it.

I'd like to se Ben Edwards get the job I'm not sure if him and Brundle would 'click'.

Somehow I think my rig is not set up correctly for LF. I can get 90 - 95fps when I'm hot lapping but with a full grid of cars going into the first turn it only manages 30 - 35fps and my PC spec is pretty good:
Intel dual core 2.4 e6600 processor
2gb PC6400 ram
8800GT Graphics card 512mb

And still only 95fps!?!?!?!
